Suggestions

An idea box that does not end up at the bottom of a channel.

What it does

Suggestions posted in a free-form channel drown within hours. Nobody knows which ones were read, kept or rejected, and the same ideas come back in circles.

The Suggestions module publishes each idea in a fixed format, with a vote and a visible status. Your team replies directly under the proposal.

The result: your members see that their ideas are handled, and you stop reading the same one three times.

What you can do

  • Submission by command, without cluttering channels
  • For and against voting, with a visible tally
  • Statuses: pending, accepted, rejected, in progress, implemented
  • Staff reply attached to the suggestion
  • Separate channel for accepted suggestions
  • Vote threshold that pings the staff, without closing the vote
  • Discussion thread created automatically under each idea

How to set it up

4 steps · about 3 minutes

  1. 1

    Create the suggestions channel

A read-only channel is enough: the bot posts the proposals, members do not need to write there.

  2. 2

Add a channel for accepted ideas

Optional, but this is what shows the system is worth something.

  3. 3

    Set the pace of voting

One vote per member, by button, changeable until an answer is given. Add a cooldown and a cap on pending ideas, or one enthusiastic member fills the channel alone.

  4. 4

    Set a threshold

Past a number of net votes, the bot pings your team once. It sets no status: doing so would close the vote just as it took off.

Frequently asked questions

Can I limit who may suggest?

Yes, by role. Useful to reserve the feature for verified members.

Are the votes public?
