Verification
The one module that checks the people are people.
What it does
Every other module here assumes the accounts it acts on belong to someone. This is the one that asks.
A portal in a locked channel, an easy challenge, and a role that opens everything the moment it is passed.
What you can do
- Three challenges: a button, a five-character image code, or your own question
- A role granted on success, and an "Unverified" role removed at the same instant
- A minimum account age, because a raid is bought rather than grown
- An attempt ceiling, with a sanction when it runs out
- A grace period for members who never try, applied by sweep so a restart cannot lose it
How to set it up
3 steps · about 3 minutes
-
1
Start with the button
It stops naive scripts and loses nobody. Move to a captcha only once you have seen a raid that got through.
-
2
Lock the channel, not the member
The portal channel should be the only one @everyone can see. The granted role is what opens the rest.
-
3
Set the grace period last
Watch how long real members take before deciding what counts as never trying. An hour is generous; ten minutes is not.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the captcha never use I, O, 0 or 1?
Because they are indistinguishable at this size. Including them would not slow a machine down — it would make the test ambiguous for the person, who then fails a code they read correctly.
A member says they were kicked without ever seeing the portal.
Check the portal channel is visible to @everyone, and that the granted role sits below the bot in the role list. Then clear their attempts with /verify-reset.
