What it does

A busy channel loses its own rules in ten minutes. Pinning does not help: a pin is a menu nobody opens, and the one line everybody needed has scrolled past twenty times.

A sticky message is always the last one in the channel — and the only way to be last is to delete the previous copy and post it again.

So the whole design is about not paying that cost too often. It moves after a number of messages or a delay, never on every line: a bot that answers each sentence is a bot the channel mutes.

What you can do

  • One per channel, so two never fight over the bottom
  • Plain text, or one of your embed templates
  • Nobody is ever mentioned by it
  • The previous copy is deleted before the next goes up

How to set it up

    Switch the module on

    Enable Sticky message. Nothing happens until a channel has one.

    Write one and pick its channel

    Choose the channel, write the text, and save. It appears at the bottom on the next message.

    Set how often it moves

    Five messages or a minute suits most channels. Raise both on a very busy one.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it disappear and come back rather than staying put?

Discord has no way to hold a message at the bottom. Being last means being the most recent, so the copy is deleted and posted again — which is also why it does not move on every line.

Can I have two in one channel?

No. Two stickies would each try to be last, deleting and reposting after one another for as long as anybody talks.

Does it ping anyone?

Never. Whatever the text contains, no mention in it notifies anybody.

An embed instead of plain text?

Pick one of your templates in the sticky's own page — the Embeds module builds them, and the link beside the picker opens the builder. A template that is later deleted falls back to the text underneath, rather than the sticky quietly stopping.
