Moderation

Keep the server healthy, even when nobody is watching.

What it does

A growing server attracts spammers, unsolicited advertising and conflict. Handling each case by hand exhausts the team and lets most night-time incidents slip through.

The Moderation module combines manual tools - sanctions, purge, lockdown - with automatic filters that run continuously, without human intervention.

The point-based warning system allows gradual escalation: a first slip costs little, repetition leads to a ban, without anyone having to keep count.

What you can do

  • Sanctions: ban, kick, mute, warn
  • Filtered purge: by member, by content, by file type
  • Lock a channel or the whole server in one click
  • Point-based warnings, with automatic expiry
  • Configurable escalation: 3 points → mute, 5 → kick, 10 → ban
  • Filters: banned words, links, spam, caps, mass mentions
  • Internal notes on a member, invisible to them
  • Full member file: sanctions, notes, history

How to set it up

5 steps · about 3 minutes

  1. 1

    Designate your team

In Settings, add the manager roles that will administer moderation without being server administrators.

  2. 2

    Set the escalation

Define the points per sanction, then the trigger thresholds. Start loose: an over-strict filter creates more work than it saves.

  3. 3

    Enable the useful filters

The anti-invite and anti-spam filters cover most cases. Add banned words afterwards, based on what you actually observe.

  4. 4

    Exclude your trusted channels

A staff-only channel or a memes channel do not need the same rules as the main channel.

  5. 5

    Wire up logging

Enable the “Moderation” category of the Logging module to keep a trace of every sanction, with its author.

Frequently asked questions

Can the bot sanction an administrator?

No, and that is deliberate. Discord prevents any action on a member whose highest role sits above the bot's.

What if a filter fires wrongly?

The sanction can be reverted from the member's file, and points expire on their own after the delay you set.
