Security

Close the doors, filter who comes in, and watch what an administrator does to the server itself.

What it does

Every server that has been attacked once adds a second bot. Not for more features — for the three things a raid needs answering with: shutting the rooms, filtering the arrivals, and stopping an administrator who has lost their account.

The three of them share one discipline: each is reversible, and none acts on a guess. The lockdown writes down what it changed before changing it. The filter judges on facts Discord states, never on an expression a form could get wrong. The anti-nuke reports before it acts, and keeps reporting until you tell it otherwise.

Nothing here is switched on when the module is. Every part of it waits to be asked.

What you can do

  • `/lock` on a channel, a category, the whole server, joins or invites
  • `/unlock` gives back exactly the permissions that were there, including none
  • `/locks` says what is closed right now, so nothing is forgotten
  • Arrival filter: account age, default picture, refused names, bots added by staff
  • Refused arrivals held behind a role rather than thrown out
  • Anti-nuke on mass deletions and mass bans, in simulation until you say otherwise

How to set it up

4 steps · about 3 minutes

  1. 1

    Try the lockdown once, calmly

`/lock scope:channel` in a quiet channel, try to write in it, then `/unlock`. Check the channel's permissions afterwards: they must be exactly what they were.

  2. 2

    Set the arrival filter

Seven days of account age stops most raids and inconveniences almost nobody. Choose a holding role rather than kicking, and a channel where refusals are reported.

  3. 3

    Leave the anti-nuke in simulation

Switch it on, keep “report only”, and wait. It will tell you what it would have done — including on your own staff, which is exactly what you need to see first.

  4. 4

    Only then, let it act

Once a fortnight has passed with no false alarm, uncheck the simulation. Add to the exempt roles anybody whose ordinary work looks like an attack.

Frequently asked questions

Can the anti-nuke take the owner's roles?

No, never. A bot that strips the owner has locked the only person able to undo it out of their own server. The owner is exempt and cannot be added to the list.

What happens when I unlock a channel that had no permissions set?

The overwrite is removed entirely rather than left empty. An empty overwrite is a change of its own, visible in the channel's settings for ever.
